I have been a spinner for some time and I love it. It is another way that I can just kick back and relax. It gives me the opportunity to focus on something where my mind needs to just be on one thing. Tour De Fleece coincides with the Tour de France each year. As a spinner, I take the opportunity to set a goal for myself. Usually its to spin for a little bit of time each day.
Tour de Fleece 2019 Goal
My goal this year though was to work on my new wheel and to test out the regular flyer as well as the fast and very fast flyer. I’ve already gotten a good deal of time in on the regular flyer and will need to move on to the fast flyer. Unfortunately I need to buy a couple bobbins and a hook for the very fast flyer so that will have to wait.
Tour de Fleece 2019 Spins: Shetland Silk Blend

Tour de Fleece 2019: Carbonized Bamboo
By far my favorite spin this entire year! I got this lovely carbonized bamboo from BeesyBee on Etsy. I’d spun a few other blends from her a few months ago. Even Steve will say this is some beautiful fiber. It spins so smoothly and tiny tiny tiny!
You can see some of the photos this looks black but its really this beautiful gray color and has the best sheen to it. Its so soft and slick to spin. Its like a dream and I CANNOT wait to buy some more of it to spin. Just before the TDF started I had spun two braids of a purple merino silk blend from Hobbledehoy. But I decided that the purple really needed a color to offset it and make sure all the variations of the color came through. This is where the carbonized bamboo came in. I can’t wait to finish this bobbin so I can make it into a three ply. It should be just stunning.
The Carbonized bamboo is sooo soft! Almost too soft to feel when you fondle it! You NEED to knit with it too!!
