School will be starting sooner than we care to imagine or for some slower than we would like. I’ve been lucky that for the most part my kiddos like school. We had a hard year last year with Rachael but she had some great teachers who stood up for her over the years. We still absolutely adore the kids kindergarten teacher. She works with kids of all ages since she also does the drama club for the elementary school. I loved seeing the difference in Rachael as she worked with Mrs. Bowles again. She was a happier kid and had so much fun. Likewise, Charlie has found a teacher in middle school who has helped him blossom some too. Our middle schools do an extended lunch time. The entire school goes to lunch in a 1 hour block. There is A lunch and B lunch so half goes first and the other half goes second. For the 30 minutes you are not eating lunch, you have nest. During this time you can go to teachers for help with class, you can join a club, or you can hang with some of the teachers. Charlie started going to a class where he was able to play Nintendo games. That all changed when he found that he could join the aquarium club with Mr. Klapper. This teacher has his own youtube channel where there are tutorials for aquarium maintenance and even where the students built their own aquariums. My favorite part is there is a live stream of the aquariums. Mr. Klapper has taken his time and money to make sure the kids have a different experience and one that is so educational and they don’t realize it. With school starting, we tend to get mired down in the supplies and clothes we have to buy. We don’t think about the teachers and all they are doing. While they have “off” for the summer, most of them are working on lesson plans, cleaning rooms, setting up supplies, and so much more. Don’t you think its a good idea to thank your teachers before school starts? Crayola thinks so too!. They sent me a gift pack of products to share about their Thank a Teacher Program.
What is the Crayola Thank a Teacher Program?
Students of all ages can create a teacher thank you and upload to the Crayola Thank a Teacher website. When they do this, you are entered to win a $10,000 classroom makeover, $1000 for you and your teacher. Plus your thank you note would be featured on a box of Crayola crayons. For official rules, visit www.Crayola.com/ThankATeacher
There are specially marked boxes of Crayola products out right now that have the Thank a Teacher design on them to make sure to grab your attention!
We set out to make sure our thank you note was specialized for our teacher. Since Rachael is running the roads in North Carolina, Charlie decided he would make a Thank You note for Mr. Klapper. He decided he wanted something that would really make a difference for Mr. Klapper, that would symbolize what he’s done for the school. It was obvious we had to go with a fish right!
I helped him draw out the fish because he was clueless on how to make it work.
The next step was to let Charlie design away. When he was little he loved the book Rainbow Fish and he ran with that.
Charlie was so proud of his finished note.
Do you or your kids have a favorite teacher you could thank this summer? I know Rae is going to make a few thank you notes to give out on sneak a peek day in a few weeks. She’s so excited to use all the different mediums available from Crayola. I’m excited to learn more about their new Take a Note line. We got a sample of the erasable highlighters in our Sweet Suite box and I’ve already commandeered them. I’ll show you in a few weeks what I think they’re going to be amazing for in our house!
