We gathered up our sugar and flour, butter and eggs and got to mixing. We made some awesome sugar cookies and then spiced things up with some chocolate chip cookies. The kids had a blast mixing the ingredients and rolling out balls of dough. We had planned on working with some other ladies and children from our mom’s group. However they were blessed with a new addition to their family.
We then placed our cookies in baggies and placed a Share Our Strength label on them and set up shop. We sold quite a few cookies and received a few donations in order to bring our total to $100. We did have a ton of cookies left over. In the spirit of Share Our Strength, we contacted the local woman’s shelter and dropped the left over cookies to them. They were able to have some cookies for dessert with dinner that night and then froze a whole bunch to portion out over the next few weeks.
About Share Our Strength
We weave together a net of community groups, activists and food programs to catch children facing hunger and surround them with nutritious food where they live, learn and play.
We work with the culinary industry to create engaging, pioneering programs like Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation®, Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale®, Share Our Strength’s A Tasteful Pursuit®, Share Our Strength’s Great American Dine Out™, and Share Our Strength’s Operation Frontline.
Share our Strength works in many ways to fight hunger. They raise funds, partner with corporations, award grants to organizations across the nation that are also fighting hunger, and work together with nonprofits. All in order to make sure there is no child in America that is hungry.
Get involved and Share your Strength. Hold a bake sale or just give a donation at Domino Sugar Great American Bake Sale.
