When I was growing up, we didn’t have all these new games and toys. We played flashlight tag and hide and seek. We had an original Nintendo system but we were only allowed to play it for a little bit of time a day. So we made do with what we had available. This is the perfect time of year to be outside playing in the evening except that it gets dark earlier. Enter Glow Battle. This is a new nighttime outdoor game.
Glow Battle is described as Nerf meets Star Wars light saber fighting, this crazy-fun sword gaming kit offers multiple organized games that develop speed, strategy and teamwork. It’s 100% safe and 100% fun! It gets kids of all ages up and moving. One look at the glowing game pieces and kids will be happy. One look at kids being active and unplugged will make parents happy… Finally, something that both kids and parents agree on!
GLOW BATTLE is:
• 10 organized games and game variations
• 28 glowing game pieces
• For 2-20 players
• Hours of energetic fun
The kids have played quite a few times now. Each player gets a colored band that lights up. You start at your home base/regeneration station and have to run to the pile of swords. Once you find the one of your color you can start taking out your opponents. For the game version the kids played, you can be hit three times before you’re out. After you’re hit you must go back to the regen station in order to change your band to flashing. If you’re hit again, you’re out.
I love that Glow Battle gets the kids thinking about strategy, working together and being a part of a large group. We’ve had a few battles with all the neighbors and played boys versus girls, oldest versus youngest and my favorite is when Mom makes up the teams to make sure they age/skill levels are even.
