It is no surprise that Crayola is one of our favorite companies. We should probably own stock with the amount of products I buy on a MONTHLY basis. No really, Rachael probably goes through a box of crayons every two weeks. She is my artistic always want to keep going kid and I love it. She will sit and draw circles and then show me but she has a whole idea of what it is. I’m not sure I can always see it but it happens. Because of her love of creating I had to share some creative Christmas gifts from Crayola. We were sent a sample of these products to test and review. All opinions are our own.
So its kind of funny how this started. A few months ago, Rae came home from school. She was so excited and I hadn’t seen her this happy in awhile. “MOM!! Guess what I learned today?” My answer? Math? Reading? How to tie your shoes? We of course broke out in giggles but then she hit me with it. “Mom you can take a hot glue gun and melt crayons with it. Then you just draw with the hot glue gun.” ME: Um that’s a no. Those things are really hot and you an burn yourself.
Flash forward a few days and Charlie and I discover the Crayola Crayon Melter. The Crayon Melter was the answer to all of Rachael’s desires. You see it is a special tool for melting crayons, you only need a small amount of crayon to color for quiet some time. But it’s totally safe for little users. (Parents should still keep an eye on their children!) The Crayon Melter comes with the tool, a stand for the tool, a selection of crayons and a cleaner/paper cutter tool. The cleaner/paper cutter tool is used to just clean any old crayon out of the barrel while the paper cutter is perfect for slicing off your crayon wrappers. Also included are a selection of design papers. One is simply so you can start to learn how to use your Crayon Melter while the others are beautiful pictures for you to create.
For those that don’t want the mess of melting crayons (although its really not that messy) or they want to get creative in a different way, I’d recommend the Ultimate Light Board.
The Ultimate Light Board is perfect as one of the best Creative Christmas Gifts from Crayola. It comes with 6 gel markers and the light board. All you need is 3 AA batteries to make it light up. I love that you can remove the black backing and use the clear screen to trace onto. It makes creativity start early and move further. It would be great to trace a picture on to and let the kids finish their design. I chose to use one of the pictures that came with the Crayon Melter to start my creativity.
You can see adding the light changes the colors slightly. The Ultimate Light Board has different settings though. The light can be solid on, fade in and out blinking. The markers actually have a holding spot at the back of the board making it great for taking along in the car on trips. The only thing I would warn against is the blinking light if you are driving at night since that would be distracting.
What Creative Christmas Gifts from Crayola are you looking at this year? I love that Crayola never leaves an age group out. They have gifts for the smallest of kiddos to the old folks like me!
