About three years ago we had family portraits done with a local photographer. I loved them but its been three years and they were only take of the four of us. The last time we had photos taken of all four of my parents grandkids was over 7 years ago. Its just been too hard. Our schedules overlap between kids schedules, work schedules and parenting its just been hard. We know that it won’t be long before some of the kids won’t be willing to take photos any more though. Portrait Innovations reached out and asked if we would be willing to check out their holiday backgrounds. We received a portrait collection in exchange for writing this post. All opinions are our own.
We’ve used the Portrait Innovations location in Waldorf before. They actually had done our last shots together 7 years ago. While some of their props haven’t changed (because they’re classic) the studio has been revamped since we were last there and obviously well maintained. The other thing I was happy to see was that their photographer was more than happy to work with our special needs kiddos. Yep our family we have 2 of them and our photographer took that with ease.
The first step was to test out the traditional holiday backdrop. I know in total there were over 100 shots taken from the beginning to the end. We started with this one of all of us together. Then we did just my sister and her kids; Steve, our kids and me; the four kids; the siblings separately. We changed backgrounds, props and did the shots again with different poses. We even got some beautiful headshots of the kids.
Our second background was a black background for the headshots for the kids:
We switched to the other studio room as it had different backdrops and got to use the gray fabric and the classic wood floor/wallpaper backdrop.
After all the shots were taken, our photographer loaded the shots into the computer, enhanced some, edited some and then sat with us to let us look. This is when we got to see some of the magic happen. We got to pick our favorites (46!!!) We then got to see some of the special items that could be ordered like these decorator sheets:
We chose two different ones of these but I can’t show the other one because its for my mom and we have to surprise her a little at this point right. We also designed a hard cover/soft cover book and calendar. For $50 you can mix and match 3 of those choices. We got 3 calendars. We put the kids head shots on their birth month, the photo of Steve and I on our anniversary month and then filled in with the other months. We also looked at a wrapped canvas. This was stunning. You can add words to it and more. We were walked through the entire process and the prices were clearly marked in front of us so we could see what we were looking at spending before we started.
Portrait Innovations wants you to spread holiday portraits too so they are giving one of my readers the following:
- Six (6) pose collection with 2 sheets of each pose
