Kids are battery eaters. There’s no way around it. They get older, they go through just as many, if not more, batteries than their childhood toys. I mean we have 16 batteries just in the game controllers for the two gaming systems. Then add in batteries for their headphones, cellphone chargers, drones, remote controls and you’re like me you’re buying batteries in bulk. We received a sample pack of AA and AAA Batteroo Boost to test out. All opinions are our own. I love the idea of keeping our batteries longer. Did you know about 15 billion batteries end up in landfills each year, creating not just trash but ultimately soil contamination and a laundry list of other environmental impacts. Consuming fewer batteries is ideal, and to that end, Silicon Valley-based Batteroo has released its eponymous battery life extender, a thin, simple ‘sleeve’ that slips over a battery and draws out its usable power to prolong its life.
I thought about all the different electronics and grabbed the closest battery controlled device, the TV remote. Now ours goes through batteries once every 2-3 weeks. It controls not only the X1 box but also the TV, Roku, Sound Bar and DVD player. It’s used constantly.
The Batteroo sleeves are multi-use so once a battery truly needs to be replaced the sleeve can come off and be reused on a new set of batteries. The sleeves are not for use with rechargeable batteries YET! They’re working on a new sleeve that will help those. They can be used with LI-ON batteries but you’ll see the most improvement with alkaline batteries.
The Batteroo sleeves are available for AA, AAA, C and D batteries at this point! They come in packs of 4 sleeves ranging from $9.99 to $19.99. You can purchase directly from Batteroo.
