I know it is going to sound odd but I am an eclectic music lover. If you were to look at my iTunes you would probably be shocked. I have music from all genres, rap-oldies-folk-country-Christian. It is all in there. But there are a few artists that always come back to me. There are a few that are always playing for me. The two biggest ones are Eva Cassidy and Carole King. There’s just something about their voices that makes me happy and chills my mood out. I’m beyond excited for Beautiful The Carole King Musical at National Theater.
The best part is it coming to the National Theater right in time for birthday. (HINT STEVE HINT!)
Tickets may be purchased at TheNationalDC.com or by calling 800-514-3849. The National Theatre is located at 1321 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in downtown Washington, D.C.
With a book by Tony® and Academy® Award-nominee Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni and choreography by Josh Prince, BEAUTIFULfeatures a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil. The show opened on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in January 2014, where it has broken all box office records and become the highest grossing production in that theatre’s history.
Long before she was Carole King, chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice.BEAUTIFUL tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
BEAUTIFUL features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil, including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got A Friend,” and the title song.
