A Bad Moms Christmas Trailer #BadMomsXmas

Last year I fell in love with the movie Bad Moms. It was the epitome of how all moms feel at some point or another. We try to be perfect, do all that we can for our kids and wind up feeling like we’ve failed. I learned last year to embrace those Bad Mom moments because we all have them. This November 3, the Bad Moms return for A Bad Moms Christmas. A new trailer has been released!

I think the line about Mom’s working their tushes off to make Christmas perfect is exactly right. As well as the mom’s don’t get joy they give joy. I about died laughing at just a few snips of this movie. I truly find that they are my tribe. They understand the reality of mom life while other’s don’t seem to remember what it was like when you had young kids or have never had them.

Bikini Bottom is decked out for Halloween and features Sandy’s treedome as a mad scientist’s lab, including a giant remotely operated Acorn Monster; Mr. Krabs’ restaurant as “The Horrors of the Chum Bucket,” displaying scenes of Plankton torturing food; and Plankton’s restaurant as “The Horrors of the Krusty Krab,” telling the story of Mr. Krabs turning customers into Krabby Patties and more.

The Beguiled Premiere with Sophia Coppola and Nicole Kidman

Focus Features has come out with another hit movie called The Beguiled. It’s in limited theaters and I can’t wait to see it. I’m so used to happy family movies and mostly animated but I honestly love a good movie that is more adult in content. The Beguiled Premiere showed the beautiful cast of this movie. Attendees from the film included Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Addison Riecke, Emma Howard, screenwriter/director/producer Sofia Coppola, producer Youree Henley, executive producer Fred Roos, composers Phoenix, and casting directors Courtney Bright and Nicole Daniels.

I think what intrigues me most is the concept behind The Beguiled. Its a historical feature film Directed by Sofia Coppola (“Lost in Translation,” “Somewhere”), Written by Sofia Coppola, based on the novel by Thomas Cullinan and the screenplay by Albert Maltz and Grimes Grice.

The Beguiled is an atmospheric thriller from acclaimed writer/director Sofia Coppola.

The story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.

Landline from Amazon Studios Starring Edie Falco

I love finding new movies and shows to watch. What I love even more is that there are so many small studios coming back out with new movies and shows. I just learned about Landline from Amazon Studios. Amazon Studios will release LANDLINE in theaters July 21st.landline

When two sisters suspect their father (John Turturro) may be having an affair, it sends them into a tailspin that reveals cracks in the family façade. For the first time, older sister Dana (Jenny Slate), recently engaged and struggling with her own fidelity, finds herself bonding with her wild teenage sister Ali (Abby Quinn). The two try to uncover the truth without tipping off their mother (Edie Falco) and discover the messy reality of love and sex in the process. Set in 1990s Manhattan, Landline is a warm, insightful and comedic drama about a family united by secrets and lies, co-written and directed by Gillian Robespierre (Obvious Child).

I think the biggest reason I’m excited for this is the amazing cast. I loved Edie Falco in The Sopranos. I can’t wait to see her in yet another movie that is sure to please all.

The best part is I have a trailer for you to watch to make sure Landline is on your summer must watch list:

School Life: Inside a Boarding School in Ireland

There is a movie coming out in September that I love the looks of. School Life is an observational documentary that follows a year in the lives of two inspirational teachers at Headfort, the only primary-age boarding school in Ireland. Housed in an 18th century estate, school life embraces tradition and modernity. For John, rock music is just another subject alongside Maths, Scripture and Latin, taught in a collaborative and often hilarious fashion. For his wife Amanda, the key to connecting with children is the book, and she uses all means to snare the young minds. For nearly half a century these two have shaped thousands of minds, but now the unthinkable looms: what would retirement mean? What will keep them young if they leave?

So could you do it? Could you send your elementary student off to a School Life in a boarding school? How about being the teachers? They seem so genuinely interested in their students, making sure they grow and become the best adults they can. The trailer talks of them starting as young children and ending their School Life popping into bars at 17. I’m not sure I could handle the kids being away for so long but if it was the only option I would hope that their school would be like Headfort. It looks like a fun, energetic, compassionate, caring school filled with students and teachers that want to be there.

Logan Lucky Starring Channing Tatum and Adam Driver

No secret that our family is a racing family. It’s been quite fun to watch Charlie grow as a driver over the past two years. The only thing I would change would be him having some competition this year. We do what we can for him though. He’s excited to see another racing movie coming to theaters this year though. Logan Lucky is going to be funny for all of us race fans. Trying to reverse a family curse, brothers Jimmy (Channing Tatum) and Clyde Logan (Adam Driver) set out to execute an elaborate robbery during the legendary Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

So I have to say we were lucky enough to head to Charlotte last week. Nothing to do with the movie but we went for vacation and got to visit one of the race teams. So much fun and They are so right in saying that the Coca-Cola 600 is one of the biggest races of the year. Check out the hilarious trailer though:

Combine a great concept, a hugely talented cast and lots of laughs and it’s going to be a hysterical movie.

Blake Lively Stars in The Husband’s Secret

Just a few weeks ago my entire Facebook was filled with the latest on the Big Little Lies mini series. I loved reading Big Little Lies and then devoured all of these:

I absolutely love each book. In fact I got The Last Anniversary on Audible and listened to it while driving all over NC last week for vacation. It was so good that Charlie and Steve were even hooked and asking how it ends. I finished it today but if they want to know, they’re going to have to read the book. The Husband’s Secret follows the same set up as Big Little Lies. In other words there’s a climax at the beginning of the book and we go back and forth between present day and the events leading up to the climax. I love this style because it makes me focus more on the book. Now I’ve learned that Blake Lively Stars in The Husband’s Secret!
Blake Lively Stars in The Husband's Secret
CBS Films announced that Blake Lively (The Shallows, The Age of Adeline) will executive produce and star in the theatrical motion picture adaptation of THE HUSBAND’S SECRET. “Liane Moriarty has established herself as one of the defining voices of the modern woman and Blake Lively’s unique combination of vulnerability, strength and extraordinary talent makes her the perfect actress to realize Moriarty’s creation,” commented Terry Press, President, CBS Films. Lively will play Cecilia Fitzpatrick, a busy wife, mother and chronic perfectionist who inadvertently discovers that her husband has been keeping a secret from her for years…a secret that leads her to realize that her life is built on a foundation of lies and murder.

THE HUSBAND’S SECRET was published by Amy Einhorn Books and quickly became a #1 New York Times Bestseller. WME, Justin Grey Stone at Management 360 and attorney Jeff Bernstein at Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein represent Blake Lively. Newest Short Lou Huge Hit Before Cars 3

Today is the big day! The one you’ve been waiting for. Cars 3 arrives in theaters today and I’m over the moon excited. While we’re on vacation, I’m taking the kids this evening to see it. I’ve already purchased the tickets. The bigger news though is I’m excited for the newest short Lou. This is one of the best shorts I’ve seen yet. Maybe it’s just because it touches home for me, from the story itself to the story of why/how it was made. Lou is a tender story of a bully and an unimaginable friend. I think this is why it’s so important to me. When I was younger (heck even now) I was bullied. I can still remember my mom walking into the school when I was in 7th grade and telling the secretary that she would not be leaving until she spoke with administrators. You see every day in gym class, DF would kick me, call me names and even punch me a time or two. I was a mild mannered child who didn’t like to cause issues. So I didn’t speak up. I kept my pain quiet until my sister saw the bruises on my legs. She told mom. Years have passed and I still remember everything from that day and the ones that followed. I know that time has passed and DF has passed away. Do I still hold anger? Nope. Do I feel sorry for her? Actually I do. I’ve grown and learned that there were things in her life that made her the way she was. I feel sorry that she didn’t have a true voice to help her. My parents were that for me.
short lou
Lou hit homes a little more now as we’re struggling with Rae being bullied. We’re trying to instill in her the same love of herself and others that my parents raised me with. My parents were my strength and I’m being that same strength for Rae. Lou is bringing those memories back and is a great way for others to see that sometimes the bully we think is mean and tough is really just a little kid who has to learn how to deal with his emotions.

Director Dave Mullins and Producer Dana Murray present the animated short, LOU at Pixar Animation Studios on March 27, 2017. (Photo by Marc Flores)

Dave Mullins is the creator and director of Lou. He has been working at Pixar for many years and started thinking of ideas for shorts in 2005. He worked on several different ones before he pitched Lou in 2012. After several different revisions Lou became a reality. From variations in the story to variations in how Lou would be made himself, there were changes. While in San Fransisco for the Cars 3 Event, we got to hear about Lou from Dave Mullins and Dana Murray, producer. It was great to see the Pixar Pipeline works the same way for the shorts as it does for the feature movies. You have a story, you do art, change the story, animate, change the story, render, change the story, animate some more, change the story and so on. This is the same process Dave and Dana went through to make Lou. I loved hearing and seeing all the different iterations that Lou was. I think the most important take away for me was these words from Dave:

At that moment this kid that felt invisible for so long as a school kid, realized not only did I make a great film but also made a lot of great friends.

For years I was like Dave, the invisible kid that while I haven’t made a great film, I do have great friends and I have this amazing job that gives me the opportunity to see and hear from some amazing people like Dave.

I got to see about 40 minutes of Cars 3 already and well it’s everything I wanted it to be! Go see it!

New Ferdinand Trailer

There are a few books I feel should be in every child’s library, The Giving Tree, Harold and the Purple Crayon and Ferdinand. Ferdinand is coming to theaters in December and I have the lastest Ferdinand trailer. Ferdinand
20th Century Fox has released a new trailer and poster for FERDINAND! Inspired by the beloved book “The Story of Ferdinand” by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson, FERDINAND tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure.
