Keeping It Spicy: Sex and the Suburbs
Posted by: | CommentsOh so grand topic this week at Sex and the Suburbs this week. I’ve struggled with body image since puberty. Because of a medical condition I am unable to maintain what others consider a healthy weight. Well guess what I’m ok with that. I love mySELF for me. And the better part so does Steve. Not once in 8 years has Steve ever said a word about my body. I think once he might have said he didn’t particularly care for a hair style but other than that he loves me for me.
We all need to accept each other for ourselves and forget what Hollywood wants us to look like. I’m loving the new series Drop Dead Diva from Lifetime and Brooke Elliott. Of course there are plent of other plus size models and actresses to make us realize that not everyone can be Angelina Jolie.
Keeping It Spicy-Time for Yourself ~~CLOSED~~

I really believe that one of the ways to Keep It Spicy is to have some alone time. Time when there are no interruptions. For me I get about 30-40 minutes once a week. I get to fill the tub with hot water, read on my Kindle and relax. Steve takes the kids to the basement to play. So it’s quiet and peaceful. (Now this long bath is usually ended with one or both kids climbing in with me but it saves time me bathing them later right?)
In our house, Steve and I do most everything together aside from work. Steve works outside of the home and works 3 or 4 days a week. He has the schedule from Hades but he likes it and it seems to work fine for our family. I however work a reguler 10-6 job Monday through Friday. So when Steve’s home we’re together. Errands need to be run, we usually do those together as well. Doctor’s appointents, play dates, parties? All done together. But for all of our sakes, this mommy needs a little time alone. I need to destress from the work I do. It may not seem all that stressful (I am allowed to work in my PJs) but I do see some tragic situations and as a person with a big heart its hard to hear about people passing or being hurt significantly. I also have the kids with me almost 24/7. Because I work from home guess where they are. Here! I wouldn’t change it for the world but it does mean that I never get away. So once a week I take my bath.
Lately I’ve been using products from Lush. I had the pleasure of using the Big Blue Bath Bomb and the Sakura Bath Bomb. Then I heard of Lush’s Romantic Weekend line. The line includes the Soft Couer Massage Bar, Heavanilla Massage Bar, Bathos Bubble Bar and the Sex Bomb Bath Bomb. I just had to try out the Sex Bomb Bath Bomb and the Soft Couer Massage Bar. Who can resist the smell of jasmine with rice rose petals? The massage bar is made from all natural products including chocolate! It’s entirely lickable.

Fizzy they do. Charlie loved to watch it fizz. Thought it was fantastic. I do have to say I was not forewarned that some of the bath bombs contain natural surprises. So I didn’t know until I threw the Big Blue Bath Bomb into the water that I would have presents with me. If you are unsure of whether or not you would be okay with this (Or know that you would hate anything else floating with you) I would follow Lush’s suggestion of placing the bath bomb in a nylon.

Keeping It Spicy: Date Night Part 3
Posted by: | Comments
So went to Sakura and had a fabulous dinner. Steak, scallops and shrimp for each of us. Add in some rice and veggies and it was delicious. We had a great group at our table as well. They were passing around Saki. Not our thing especially since we both had to drive but it sounded good.
We picked the kids up and headed home. By the time we got home both kids were passed out. So into their beds they hopped and off to our room we went. I don’t wear make up a lot because it tends to make me break out. So I learned along time ago the best thing in the world for me is to take any make up off as soon as I can.
I headed into the bathroom and remembered that I had received a sample of Ponds Wet Cleansing Towelettes to try. I grabbed my pack, read the directions and set out to clean. I was pleasently surprised to find that I only need one Ponds Wet Cleansing Towelette to clean my face. Now to be fair and honest, I don’t wear a ton of make up when I do wear it. I use a mineral brand and my make up consisted of foundation, some bronzer, eye shadow and eye linear.
My personal belief is less is better. I prefer to look more natural. But still only one Ponds Wet Cleansing Towelette cleaned everything.

I know I will be visiting to get coupons and the summer beauty tips like these ones.
Keeping It Spicy: Date Night Part 2

Part of the fun of a date night is getting dolled up. I do work a full time job but that job I work from home. So most days while I take a shower and get dressed, dressed usually consists of a t-shirt and shorts or jeans. I knew we were going to Sakura which while not overly fancy (you can find people in jeans or shorts and a T-shirt) it does have an air of upscale to it.
So this date night meant a dress top and pants, great shoes, and make up. So I got all prettied up with black dress pants from Lane Bryant and a Hanky top. Did my general makeup and pulled out my new Eye Pencils from Pencil Me In Cosmetics. I often don’t wear eye linear for the simple fact that I can never find my sharpener. But Pencil Me In Cosmetics has fixed that. The sharpener is now easily stored in the top of each Eye Pencil lid. An extra plus with this is there is no cross contamination.

The Eye Pencils boast a long lasting consistent color. There are 30 shades and collections to compliment every skin/eye color. There are warm browns and smokey greys. For the more adventurous, there is purple, frosted blues and subtle glitter. There are antioxidants in each Eye Pencils to help protect the gentle areas around the eyes from damage. At the low price of $6.99 these Eye Pencils are surely a steal.
To make things better. The staff at Pencil Me In Cosmetics is offering each of you a deal:
Buy 2, Get 1 Free. Buy 4, get 2 free, and so on. To take advantage of the promotional offer log onto: www.pencilmeincosmetics.com and choose the pencil colors that you would like to purchase then proceed to the shopping cart page. The cost for each pencil is $6.99. On the shopping cart page you will see in purple a link for this promotion. Click on it. The user name and password for this section is the same word: Healthy
Choose your free pencils and proceed to check out.
So what colors are you anxious to try on your next date night?

Okay honestly who among us hasn’t suffered a little dry spell? I swear the day we found out Rachael was a girl that was the end of my sex life for the rest of the pregnancy. Oh there may have been a special moment or two but pretty much nothing. So we found out in February, she was born in June and we were finally cleared sometime in August. That’s a long time. Plenty of other moms have had the same problem and Daddy not wanting to put out because of a pregnancy. The worst part, many of us mommies have the best sex drive while pregnant. After pregnancy I had no desire for anything but sleep for days weeks months. How about you? When have you had a dry spell?

Keeping It Spicy- A Little Trinket ~~CLOSED~~
Posted by: | Comments
Every now and then we ladies want a little trinket. Something completely out of the ordinary that shows us that our significant other thought of us. It can be something small like stopping to buy a single flower on the way home or something big would be nice to. A new appliance we’ve been drooling over or a spa day with no kids?
Recently I discovered Gala Glass. They have glass jewelry and glass figurines. My favorite was the glass lamps. Are they not beautiful? So delicate and the features are amazing. Look at the close up picture of the humming birds. You can clearly make out every part of them including their little eyes.
All of the pieces are hand crafted by Angelo Tiozzo and his associates. They use a variety of traditional and innovative glass shaping techniques to create beautiful, elegant and timeless heirloom pieces. To ensure a wide offering of artistic crystal glass creations, Angelo also selects the best from the work of other world-class craftsmen to enrich the Gala Glass legacy.
I was blessed to receive a humming bird lamp and a bottle of yellow paraffin lamp oil. The lamp is so delicate and oh so gorgeous. The blue in the humming birds wings is so rich and vibrant. My only dislike was it was a little difficult to actually get the wax into the lamp. I was able to pour it in with little difficulty with a dixie cup.
**UPDATE** I was contacted by Mario from Gala Glass about my dislike mentioned above. The hole is in fact rather small and he agrees with that. However it was brought to my attention that it seems there was a small error in shipping my lamp. With each lamp Gala Glass also includes a small funnel specifically tailored for their lamps and to fill the lamp.***
The wonderful team at Gala Glass is offering one reader a $25 gift card to purchase a little trinket for your significant other or yourself.
Here are the rules:
*Visit Gala Glass. Look at all the beautiful items and let me know which one you would buy with your gift certificate.

Keeping It Spicy-Date Night Part 1
Posted by: | Comments
Once a month, Steve and I have a date night. It’s not that we don’t love our kids to pieces but every once and awhile we all need some time away. This past Friday was our date night. Steve had to work late so I dropped the kids off at my mom’s. Then came the fun part. I had gotten all gussied up. Dress pants, fancy top and the best most comfortable shoes ever. All in an attempt to help by Keeping It Spicy.
I pulled out my newest pair of shoes, Aravon’s Mia. Slipped them on and it’s like walking on air. The Mia shoes have a 1-1/4″ heel which is perfect for me. They also have the new Stridarc heeled rocker sole and Ionact® antibacterial protection. I absolutely adore these shoes.
I dropped the kids off, picked up Steve and drove to dinner at Sakura. While sitting there, three of the women at our table commented on how great my shoes were. How awesome is it for a fashion forward woman dressed to the nines to be telling me that my shoes are great?
I would highly recommend Aravon to any lady looking for a new dress shoe.
Keeping It Spicy Kick-Off With Eden Fantasys ~~CLOSED

As you can see we’ve had some changes over the weekend to the blog and with it the Keeping It Spicy event got a little delayed. But here we are and ready to move forward.
I love being married. My husband is my best friend and the one person I can always count on to support me no matter what I chose to do. Steve really is my reason for living and makes me look forward to every new day.
I have noticed over the past few weeks that several of my friends have been having some issues within their marriages. Some of it is money, lets face it in this economy all of us are struggling to get by. Some of it is our children, with summer being here and the kids out of school there is tons of pressure to keep them active and we have lost some of the time for ourselves. So this month, instead of focusing on our children and getting them ready for school, I’m going to focus on marriages and Keeping It Spicy.
Now there are tons of ways to keep a marriage spicy and over the next 28 days we’re going to cover as many as possible. There are intimate and nonintimate and there will be giveaways of both kinds so keep checking back.
Today lets focus on the bedroom; cause well honestly when someone mentions Keeping It Spicy in a marriage that’s the first place a mind will go to.
There are all different types of lingerie, adult toys for men and women. Maybe you would prefer some viewing pleasure? The best place I have found to shop for all these items and more is Eden Fantasys. Their selection is huge and ranges in prices. If you’re unsure what to get your loved one you can now get a gift card and let him or her chose.
Not only is Eden Fantasys a great company to shop with (all their packages come discretely wrapped so the nosy neighbor, roomate or postal person will have no idea what is arriving) they offer a wonderfully well written online magazine called Sexis. There are hundreds of articles for all walks of life that can help improve your bedroom life. I’ve been really enjoying the witty, sometimes hilarious, always informative articles in the Sex and the Suburbs series.
You can also read this review of Eden Fantasys. Not sure what to buy? Keep checking in at I Like It Frantic because there will be several products featured over the next few days.
The fabulous people at Eden Fantasys are helping to sponsor the Keeping It Spicy event by offering a $50 gift card to one lucky I Like It Frantic reader.
