Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents Out of this World in DC

There is a date for the final Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents Out of this World in DC and I’m excited that we have been given tickets to head to see it.

For the first time, the show features thrill skaters in addition to unbelievable performances by gravity-defying acrobats, majestic animals and hilarious clowns. Imaginations will run wild throughout the nonstop display of artistic athleticism, with acts seamlessly transitioning from floor to air to ice, a feat never before done in Ringling Bros.

Eating Gluten Free in Baltimore

We’ve been gluten free for a few years and I love finding new and great restaurants to eat at. The thing is I prefer to not eat at the regular chain restaurants. I like to find places that are new and different and if they’re a smaller mom and pop type place that are willing to help us eat safely I’m all the happier. Eating gluten free in Baltimore can be hard. While this is one huge city in Maryland, its hard to find smaller places that offer gluten free. Eating Gluten Free in Baltimore

  1. My favorite place is Sweet 27. This is actually two fronts at one general location. Sweet 27  is a full restaurant with a huge menu and adjacent is a smaller cafe/bakery. They have the best cupcakes of all time! I mean I can get a carrot cupcake or the hostess. Many of their cupcakes are actually dairy free as well and they even offer some that are vegan. The restaurant side contains a delicious menu where my favorite is the duck tacos with their signature fries. TO DIE for! I’m hoping Steve will take me there soon to eat. I actually wrote a full review of Sweet 27 a while ago. Make sure you go read what our favorite foods were.
  2. Sabatinos is great if you’re looking for an Italian style eating. I may be a little biased as I love Shrimp Fra Diavlo and they actually have it gluten free. Most people use linguine and don’t like to substitute. They serve all of their pasta dishes with a gluten free penne pasta and it’s delicious.
  3. Most Indian food is naturally gluten free so it’s no surprise that Lumbini restaurant is a great place to try eating gluten free in Baltimore. Simply ask your wait staff which options are gluten free and they are more than happy to help you. I’m not a huge Indian food fan but I do love me some Chicken Tikki Masala and Lumbini’s is one of my favorite versions. Just the right mixture of spices to give the best flavor.
  4. So if you know me at all you know that I’m an Irish girl at heart. Now my absolute most favorite Irish Pub has a few locations and if you’re willing to drive outside of Baltimore to Severna Park or Annapolis you should visit Brian Boru/Gallaway Bay but if you can’t get out of the city limits go test our Tir Na Nog. They also have a gluten free menu and it’s yummy! They offer several traditional Irish dishes that are gluten free like Tommy Maloney’s Corned Beef and Cabbage. Go exotic with your appetizer and try the Mediterranean Lamb Meatballs.
  5. Like I said I love to test out smaller mom and pop type places more than the big huge chains. So when we found Miss Shirley’s Cafe we were beyond excited. When you read a menu for a restaurant and you see things like Gluten Free Pancakes available you melt. These are the things that are important when you’re a family of celiacs. The best part is they wait staff was knowledgeable and even asked if we were concerned about cross contamination so that they could make sure we were safe.

Do you have recommendations for Eating Gluten Free in Baltimore? Or in your favorite city?

Automobile Technology Washington DC Auto Show

The Washington DC Auto Show is in town from now until February 5, 2017! I was invited back this year by the Auto Show, Hyundai/Genesis and She Buys Cars. I was give a stipend for attending the events but all opinions are my own. This year my focus was to be on Automobile Technology.

The last 3 years I have become more involved in the Washington DC Auto Show and learning as much as I could for all of you. First off I have to say if you’ve never been to an auto show you need to go. You learn so much from them and if you’re looking for a new car this is the best way to see them without the pressure of buying. You can narrow down your choices and then test drive those at your local dealer. This is exactly what I did 2 years ago and how I wound up with my Chevy Sonic.

This year the Auto Show has something for everyone. No really every single auto maker had a space that the kids would love to work with. Ford has a simulation machine where you can go off roading in one of their trucks. Toyota has a virtual reality car so that you can see how the hydrogen cell works.

But I was most interested in learning about the technology that is going into the cars these days. I got to do a special ride and drive that showed me more about the connected car. I took a lot away from this since we were able to see fully how it worked. These new cars will have small wifi control boxes in the car while the road (infrastructure) will have larger ones.

The purpose is to make us safer. The connected car will be able to tell us things like a sharp curve in the road that we are going too fast to safely maneuver, a red light warning, and lane closure. So the car can tell what lane you’re in, how fast you’re going and warn you that you will need to make changes to be safe.

Top Auto Makers that are working together on Connected Cars

The first warning is subtle, an image pops on your nav screen.

The second warning is more direct and produces an audible sound.

This is going to be great for young drivers but also for those of us become monotonous in our trips to and from work and school.

We also got to learn more about alternative vehicles. You know the ones that don’t run on gas! This is Steve’s favorite subject and he could talk for days on it. I focused on the Hyundai Ioniq because I loved the look of it. Plus it’s done something no other hybrid car has done before! It set a speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

As a mom of a racer, I loved seeing the inside of this car including some of our favorite safety gear from Simpson!

While at the show I also got to check out the new Genesis G80 Sport! This is a thing of beauty! And has some awesome tech in it too. Including power close doors.

What automobile technology are you most looking forward to?

Heading to the Washington DC Auto Show! #DCLovesAutos

The past two years I have been excited to head to the Washington DC Auto Show as a guest of She Buys Cars and Chevy. It’s been a great opportunity for me but most of all it’s been a learning experience. I’ve loved seeing the new cars. Last year I even got a glimpse of an electric race car! Something I can totally get behind at this point. Last year I even got to do a ride and drive with Chevy Cruze and we loved it. My first time ever at an auto show was two years ago and I found there were a lot of tips for women at the auto show. This year I get to head back and I can’t wait to see the latest in technology, do a ride and drive and even meet some more of the top global automakers. I do get to go to the Washington DC Auto Show free of charge as an ambassador and receive a monetary gift for my time. All opinions are my own.

Childhood Cancer Heroes

We have an unfortunately high incidence of childhood cancer in our area. We have meet a few of these children that are heroes who are fighting daily. Currently we’ve been supporting Nolan Scully. He’s a local 3 year old who has been working hard to fight a battle that no 3 year old should have to fight. He is supported by so many in our community and we are Nolan Strong!

Recently Hyundai “Hope on Wheels” introduced some of these childhood cancer heroes to the medical researchers that are helping to save their lives.

You can show your support for the Hyundai “Hope on Wheels” on Facebook. To follow Nolan and his amazing story of strength visit him on Facebook. This little boy is sure to enter your heart and give you another reason to be thankful for all that you have in your life. NolanStrong on Facebook is a great place to leave a message of encouragement as well as see how things are going.

Personalize Christmas with Collage

I’ve been lucky the last few years to be able to personalize Christmas with Collage. It’s been a great partnership with them that has lead to surprising some of our family with great products that show how much we love them. This year I was able to order something for Steve and something for Charlie.

Our life this past year has revolved around racing. It’s been fun for all of us and has helped us all grow in together time. But it’s also lead to some super touching moments for us. I never thought when we started that it would lead to all that it has. Charlie has grown so much and has shared his love of the sport with anyone he could. The other thing he’s done is to be able to be a great sport and always congratulates everyone in his class.

The together time is something I love as a mom. I love seeing Steve and Charlie be one with each other, give pep talks and learn together. One of my favorite photos of Steve and Charlie came from their weekly tradition of a pep talk and prayer. I knew I needed this photo as a reminder that we are what put out into the world. For Steve I got a 16×20 canvas print. I love that its huge and shows so much detail. The first thing Steve commented on was that he was able to see the dirt in both of their fingernails. Me I loved seeing each single curl in their hairs.

For Charlie, I wanted him to know how proud we are of his many accomplishments this year. We really didn’t think he would be at the level he’s at this year. I mean you toss a kid in a kart and throw them on the track, you aren’t expecting first place finishes in the first year. You’re just hoping he’s able to keep it on the track. I wanted to show how far we’ve come this year. You can see he starts the year with a red kart and it changes to a blue at the end. I captured his first win and third win (we have another one after that!) and best of all was able to capture his pure joy being at the track, in his fire suite and loving every second of being there.

Trolls hits theaters everywhere on November 4th, 2016!

Synopsis
From the creators of Shrek comes DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls, a smart, funny and irreverent comedy about the search for happiness, and just how far some will go to get it. This hilarious film transports audiences to a colorful, wondrous world populated by the overly optimistic Trolls, who have a constant dance in their step and a song on their lips, and the comically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have trolls in their stomachs.

After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy (Kendrick), the happiest Troll ever born, and the overly-cautious curmudgeonly Branch (Timberlake) set off on a journey to rescue her friends. Together, this mismatched duo embarks on a rescue mission full of adventure and mishaps – trying to tolerate each other long enough to get the job done. Utilizing music to further the film’s narrative, the Trolls soundtrack is produced by Justin Timberlake and features five original songs including songs by Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Anna Kendrick and Gwen Stefani, in addition to a number of classic hits from the ‘60s through the ‘80s.

New SING Trailer

I love being able to share new movie trailers with you guys! I was asked to share this one for the movie SING! Have you heard of it yet?
SING

SING is set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon (McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal—some might even say delusional—optimist who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now faced with the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.
sing-reesewitherspoon-as-rosita
Five lead contestants emerge: Mike (MacFarlane), a mouse who croons as smoothly as he cons; Meena (Kelly), a timid teenage elephant with an enormous case of stage fright; Rosita (Witherspoon), an overtaxed mother run ragged tending a litter of 25 piglets; Johnny (Egerton), a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family’s felonies; and Ash (Johansson), a punk-rock porcupine struggling to shed her arrogant boyfriend and go solo.

Each arrives under Buster’s marquee believing that this is their shot to change the course of their life. And as Buster coaches each of his contestants closer and closer to the grand finale, he starts to learn that maybe the theater isn’t the only thing that is in need of saving.

I think I most relate to Reese Witherspoon’s character. I mean what mom doesn’t take a few minutes in the shower to SING, to belt it out and get her moment of just her time.

Beni Ourain Rugs: Authentic and Intriguing

The name ‘Beni Ourain’ is becoming more and more familiar to people who focus on the interior design world. Interior designers everywhere can’t stop waxing poetic about Beni Ourain rugs. These are also commonly known as Moroccan Berber rugs. They’re lovely handcrafted offerings that come straight from northern Africa’s Atlas Mountains. People of the Berber tribes produce them and have been doing so for thousands of years. If you want to decorate your home with a slice of rich history and culture, one of these amazingly exotic rugs may suit your fancy. Moroccan Berber rugs are no longer just a big thing among the Berber people. They’re currently immensely popular in locations all throughout the planet.

Moroccan Berber rugs are extraordinarily comfortable. They’re nothing like typical rugs you can find at most shops. Once you walk on a Moroccan Berber rug, you’ll realise quickly that there’s no going back. Walking on them feels like cotton candy. It feels almost like you’re floating on air. If you want to treat your tired and exhausted feet to a soft and smooth experience, Moroccan Berber rugs don’t have any competition.

Beni Ourain rugs are excellent for people who love beautiful things. They’re not just noteworthy because they’re gorgeous, either. They’re also notable because they look so distinctive. Their designs are eye-catching and unforgettable. They don’t look like the same old mundane patterns you see on most rugs in homes and businesses. Their subtle colours are the perfect combination of understated and sophisticated as well.

Some people like how versatile Moroccan Berber rugs are. They have many potential applications. Although they’re most commonly used as rugs on the floor, there are also many people out there who prefer to employ them in other equally efficient manners. If you purchase a rug that’s on the smaller side and that has a particularly strong and attractive pattern, it may be a nice idea to hang it on your living room wall. Moroccan Berber rugs often make mesmerising pieces of artwork.

These rugs can make frigid winter months a lot more bearable for households. That’s because they possess impressive insulation abilities. If your bedroom tends to be extremely chilly in the wintertime no matter what you do, Moroccan Berber rug placement on the floor could help you significantly. These rugs offer cosy insulation that can do a lot for people who want to feel significantly warmer.

These rugs make lovely interior design choices for people who respect nature. That’s because they couldn’t be more natural. If you want to fill your home with a sense of nature and tranquility that can make you feel far away from the action of the city, getting a Moroccan Berber rug should work extremely well. These rugs are natural and therefore can invite a sense of tranquility and calm into any living space. If you frequently feel stressed out and anxious, a Moroccan Berber rug may be able to calm your nerves.

These handwoven rugs are extremely strong, too. It takes a lot to wear them out. If you need a rug for your home that’s nice and durable, you should look at all of your Moroccan Berber choices. These incredible rugs often remain in excellent condition for extremely long periods of time. They’re definitely not delicate in any way.
