Our Thoughts

Charlie had a blast playing T-ball this spring and he’s loving being able to play new sports and join in team situations. I was excited when International Playthings sent us the Soccer Trainer. Charlie has been looking at playing soccer for some time now. My nephew was on a team and still loves to kick the ball around in Mimi and Pop-Pop’s backyard. On a nice day you can often find the two boys trying to kick the ball around. Charlie’s problem is that at home it’s hard to really learn how to kick the ball well because of the hills. Our house sits on top of a hill and balls just roll. While he can get some practice in at the grandparents house, he wants to be able to play here too. The Soccer Trainer came ready for use. The ball is attached to the base with a heavy nylon rope. It was quick and easy to fill the base with water to weight it down. (You can use sand as well but as I wanted to be able to transport the trainer from time to time we used water that was easy to empty and refill without a mess.)

Charlie has been playing with the Soccer Trainer for a few weeks now. What I’ve found is that his balance has definitely improved. We tend to call the kids the klutz twins because they are always tripping over their own feet. But at least now it’s a little less often. The other upside is the Soccer Trainer is easy to move from location to location takes up minimal space and can easily be used by more than one kid at a time. On a few occasions we’ve taken the Soccer Trainer to my parents and let the boys practice kicking back and forth to each other.
