So I’m really curious about your thoughts on cigarette smoking? I’m a huge advocate for nonsmoking. My father smoked for the first 21 years of my life and I hated it. I still worry even though he has quit that he might have reprocussions from the years of smoking.
I was shocked to see smoking being one of the hot topics on The View today. It started with the fact that Charlie Sheen has stopped a plea agreement that detailed community service be served at a local theater that is nonsmoking. Whoppie is a smoker and discussed her displeasure with being made to feel like less of a human. Now I understand that there could be a better place to put the smoking area than next to a dumpster but she has to remember that second hand smoke is a real concern. You never know who might be next to you or how your actions may affect them. Personally I cannot be around smoke. It is sure fire way to get my asthma going. I can’t breathe because you’ve lit up a cigarette. Something that in all honesty you shouldn’t be doing simply because it could kill you.
I also get that nicotine is a drug that is highly addictive (see above that my dad smoked for over 20 years). I understand that to quit smoking takes a lot of effort and no one can make you do it, but I want to see more of Whoopie in my life. She has always been one of my favorite comedians so Whoopie Please put the cigarette down and find something that helps you quit.
On a lighter note, Danielle Fishel (Style Network’s: The Dish, Boy Meets World) was the guest host, and she was hysterical. She joked about being a child star and the fact that her strong family helped keep her from the stereotypical child star curse. Harry Connick Jr talked about mentoring the final 5 contestants on this season of American Idol and whether or not he might replace Simon Cowell.
What are your thoughts on cigarette smoking? Are you a smoker and find you need a place to go to smoke? Are you a nonsmoker that supports smokers? Or a nonsmoker that feels we just need to add some extra taxes in order to make it so expensive to smoke that everyone will quit?

As you know I am a smoker and I know I need to quit and it’s bad for me but for some reason I still enjoy them. Somewhat of a stress releiver. I’ve also noticed when I’m bored. And, I do understand the risk for me and others yet I still do it. I have no will power over it. I do no matter what ask if it’s ok for me to or I will relocate myself away from others. It’s a bad habit I started when I was younger and I wish I never had.

I’m not a smoker. Neither is anyone in my family except my MIL. My MIL cannot stop smoking. She has several serious health issues and is unable to stop. She smokes in her garage…never in her house, which is wonderful for the children. She even smokes in the garage when we are not there…has done for years.
I recall my first job sitting opposite a person who chain smoked unfiltered cigarettes. I would walk in to her office in to thick smoke. So glad that offices now ban smoking.

I am a former smoker, quit over 13 years ago. I don’t lay into those who smoke, any more than skinny people can lay into me when I eat. I do think it is bad for everyone, but if people want to poison themselves slowly, who am I to say boo?
I actually calculated how much I have saved since I quit!
