GET READY TO SLIDE INTO SUMMER AT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA’S ICONIC LA COSTA AND RANCHO LAS PALMAS RESORTS

Children, Tweens, Teens and Adults Compete for Fastest Time Down 100-foot Water Slides in Annual Summer Sliders Cup Races

RANCHO MIRAGE and CARLSBAD, Calif. (June 16, 2010) – There’s nothing cooler this summer than the return of the annual Slider’s Cup Races at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, Palm Springs, and La Costa Resort and Spa, San Diego. Splashing into effect June 19, riders will compete for a daily prize as well as a grand prize.

Sister properties managed by KSL Resorts, both La Costa and Rancho Las Palmas boast the most incredible water adventures in Southern California. Rancho Las Palmas’ Splashtopia and La Costa’s Splash Landing feature 100 and 120-foot water slides respectively, aqua zones and even sandy beaches.

“Last year’s inaugural Slider’s Cup Races were a huge hit with guests of all ages,” says Josh Herman, Rancho Las Palmas’s director of marketing. “We are anticipating the return of many past champions as well as new competitors ready to take on the challenge.”

“Slider’s Cup is an activity for the whole family – from participants to those cheering on from the audience,” added La Costa’s Denise Chapman, director of marketing. “We are thrilled to welcome back such an exhilarating program and anticipate the same, if not more, excitement, spirit and participation than last year.”

Sliders Cup races will take place at each resort every Thursday and Saturday at 5:00 p.m. from June 19 through September 4, 2010. Each property will time racers and award age group “winners” for the fastest time. The four age groups are 6-10 years old; 11-14 years; 15-19 years; and 20 and over. Winners, photos, sliding tips and video footage will be posted online at the Sliders Cup website: www.sliderscup.com.

Winners at each resort will be named on a daily basis with a grand prize winner in each category at the end of the promotion. One prize is awarded per race day, for each age group. In the event of a tie, a random drawing will be conducted to determine a winner. Daily winners will receive a free smoothie and a $25 resort gift certificate to be used toward golf, spa treatments, retail or dining. At the conclusion of the promotion, each property will award a grand prize winner in each age group. The grand prize is a VIP resort gift certificate good for a two-night stay in a suite at either resort including daily breakfast, unlimited golf, two 50-minute spa treatments and one dinner for four.

All overnight resort guests and club members who are 42” (Rancho Las Palmas) or 48” (La Costa) or taller are eligible to participate. Racers will be asked to fill out a form with their contact information so that prizes can be awarded as earned. Guests can check www.sliderscup.com to see winning times, check their standings and even upload their own race photos and videos.
