Our Thoughts
One of the goals of the Carefree Days of Summer event was to find new ways to spend the summer time together whether home or away. So a perfect way to spend time together is on a walk/hike. Whether you have the courage to camp out with little ones or you just travel to a local spot to hike. We grabbed our Kelty FC 3.0 Frame Carrier and headed to Flag Ponds, a local nature reserve. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with all the features this carrier has. The kickstand is spring loaded so as soon as you loosening the straps the kickstand pops out. We have used my sister’s old Kelty a few times and I found it hard to maneuver the kickstand while moving the carrier off. So the automatic feature is fantastic. We were able to safely go from our car down to the beach and back up to the car. Sounds like a short trip right? The trail leading to the beach is over a mile long and includes several hills and valleys.
Pros
- Holds either of our children safely and securely. It was easy to switch the straps for either child and took just minutes.
- Steve and I were able to switch the Kelty FC 3.0 Frame Carrier from Steve to me in just seconds. While we’re the same basic build, Steve is much taller than me and well he doesn’t have the chest area I do. So being able to switch from one person to the other in a matter of a minute was a huge plus for me.
- This carrier fits all adult sizes. Whether a skinny mini or little plush. This is the very first carrier we have ever bought that actually fit both of us without purchasing an extension for the waist belt and it wasn’t close. There is more than enough space to add on.
Cons
- The price is on the hefty side at $250 but the quality of the carrier means it will last for much longer.

I would love to have the Kelty Shadehouse – Large for our backyard. I really appreciate you reviewing this, btw. My husband and I are both on the larger side and we have struggled to find carriers to fit us both. I am a size 18 and love my Ergo, but my hubby uses a Phil & Ted carrier.
