Has anyone else had issues with the new shipping method? Do you know which one I’m talking about? It’s where your product starts out with one vendor and is then transferred to USPS. If this is cost effective and still timely to the consumer I would be happy with it but I see some flaws. Some serious flaws. Recently I placed an order for Charlie’s birthday from The Children’s Place. I love their clothes and we just weren’t going to make it to the mall before I needed the clothes. Now they have the new shipping that is $5 for your order. Sounds even better right. Add in that I had a coupon and Charlie got 3 pairs of pants a fleece shirt and Rachael got a hat with shipping it cost $32. Perfect. I ordered it on a Friday. So I knew that it wouldn’t be processed until Monday but still it should be here within the week. I kid you not this is how the order went down.
Processed, packged and picked up by UPS on Monday January 4. Transferred to USPS on January 7th and not delivered until January 10th. My issue is in where the item shipped from.
We live in Southern Maryland. We’re 45 minutes from DC. The package shipped from (I DEAR NOT LIE ABOUT THIS) Laurel, Maryland. A 1.5 drive from us and this packaged did not arrive for a week. Seriously? What in the world? If I had shipped the same package from our local post office I could have, placed it in a flat rate priority box for $4.95 and it would have arrived the next day. But it took 7 days to get to us.
DHL has the exact same service. Using this service adds at least 2 days on to your shipping time frame. Its ridiculous. I understand that it has to be processed by USPS by why are we doing this in the first place. Why in the world are we not just starting and ending with one service. And even more why are we not being told that this is happening when we order. At no time was I told that my order would be transferred. This is true for both my order from The Children’s Place as well as two recent purchases from Newegg.
Have you had this issue? Why are companies not telling us that we are getting this service? I’d rather pay an extra $2-3 to have the box come direct from UPS or DHL OR USPS than have this round about service that doesn’t work.

I didn’t realize that UPS was doing this as well. I knew that DHL often ended up in the hands of USPS, but UPS too? Why in the world would I bother paying the extra to ship it by UPS then? I totally understand about the extra wait too, when I ship packages to my family in Canada, it takes so long for them to get it, and it’s closer than if I shipped it to FL or CA!
