Charlie and I saw Up when it first hit the theaters. We had a date. It was Charlie and I and Aunt Anne. We had to see the movie in 3D which was fun cause as I’ve said before, Charlie refuses to leave the 3D glasses on for the movie. We laughed, we cried and we left aching to watch the movie again.
When I was contacted to do a review I was over the moon and ready to say Yes. We received the Blu-Ray 4 disc set. This fantastic set would be great for a family present this holiday season. Disc 1 is the Blu-Ray disc with the movie. Disc 2 is another Blu-ray disc including all the special features. Disc three is the regular DVD version of the movie and select special features. And the last disc contains a digital copy of the movie, perfect for uploading to your ipod to let the kids watch while waiting in lines.
We love this movie. Charlie knows some of the lines by heart now as we’ve watched the movie several times over the last few days. I will forewarn you the first 15-20 minutes are on the sadder side. Aunt Anne and I had a cry at that part. But there was tons of laughing, a little bit of suspense and overall a good movie. Charlie and Rachael enjoyed watching Kevin and all his chocolate loving craziness. Steve and I had some tears to share when we watched the beginning as well. The silent story of Carl and Ellie and their relationship is one that we know all too well. (Except for the aging part.)
The special features include a short: Doug’s Special Mission. There is only one word available: HILARIOUS. Although how could anything with talking dogs be anything other then hilarious.
The official Up synopsis:
Up is described as a “comedic adventure” starring a 78-year man named Carl Fredricksen, who’s “spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest”. Due to his age, he thinks life has “passed him by”. One day, however, a “twist of fate”, and an 8-year old “Wilderness Explorer” named Russell, changes his outlook on life. The pair go on adventures, encountering “wild terrain”, “unexpected villains” and “jungle creatures”.
