I’d like to start by fully addressing some issues brought up in the comments on the first post.
Yarn Clubs in General and Indie Dyers: I would not say this has soured me on yarn clubs or indie dyers. While I have not purchased another membership due to money constraints. I have however bought some Indie dyed yarn recently as well as eyeing some others. (I’m loving this Flamingo.) I have seen several yarn clubs that look interesting as well as being run well. In January last year there were a few other clubs I was debating, I chose to go with the Intention Yarns because I “knew” who was running it, I had already purchased yarn from this line as well as this dyer and I loved the idea behind it.
Being Anonymous: While I’d like to see people actually stand behind their comments, I do not delete comments, I do not edit comments and I do not make it so you cannot leave an anonymous comment. I can however tell you that you really aren’t anonymous to me. If you visit this site (not whether or not you leave a comment, just visit) I can see your IP address and can see exactly where you are. Between your IP address and Google Earth I can even seen exactly where you live. As for me being anonymous, I have no qualms about telling you how I am. You can clearly search this site and see all sorts of things about me, my husband and our children.
Getting a Refund: There is no hope there. I have called Paypal. The only thing they can do is put a note on her seller’s account. Enough of them and she will have her account closed. I have contacted Visa but due to the age of the charge they cannot investigate it.
Selling my Membership: I have already said on Ravelry that I would be happy to sell my membership. Obviously Miss Violet would like to see it sold. However, I will not sell it for the three remaining shipments as I have not received all of what I was supposed to get with the third shipment. Anyone willing to pay the $145 for the last 4 shipments please let me know. You can send payment through Paypal but I’m sure you will not be getting what you think.
UPDATE ON SELLING MEMBERSHIP: As this is not now nor has it ever been about the money to me. Any purchase of my membership will be done by making a donation to either St. Jude’s or to Kennedy-Krieger in Baltimore’s Traumatic Brain Injury fund in my nephew’s name.
Suing Any of Us for Slander: Let’s start with the definition of slander.
From Webster’s:
slan?der
| 1. | defamation; calumny: rumors full of slander. |
| 2. | a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name. |
| 3. | Law. defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc. |
| 4. | to utter slander against; defame. |
–verb (used without object)
| 5. | to utter or circulate slander. |
So in order to sue any of us for slander it would have to be proven that we were defaming her. In case anyone’s curious the definition of Defamation according to Webster’s:
def?a?ma?tion
–noun the act of defaming; false or unjustified injury of the good reputation of another, as by slander or libel; calumny: She sued the magazine for defamation of character.
UM Yeah. I can guarantee without a doubt NOTHING I have written on this subject has been false or unjustified.
Taking Money Under the Guise of Using it for Something Else: I had heard about the “flight/legal fund” but did not donate. (If for some reason this link goes to a 404, let me know. I have screen shots.) Notice the quote marks, these were Miss Violet’s own words. She held an “unraffle” to raise money. There were at least two other people that donated yarn and held a private raffle on the blogs Crafty Girly and Lawrence. There was also a Chipin that raised money. Reader stated that I should not have brought Miss Violet’s marriage into this. As it was already pointed out, I wasn’t the one to do this Miss Violet was. Two of the sites above clearly state this money was to help Miss Violet leave her husband. While it is her business if she chose to stay with him, all of that money should have been returned as it was given and intended for different purposes.
UPDATE: As the “unraffle” post has magically been deleted. I will glady post a screen snap of the page. You see I never post something that can be easily removed by someone else without having proper proof.

The September Packet: Several people have told me that in fact the September packet has been placed on the site and has been there for awhile. These are people NOT in the club. They have received this statement from Miss Violet. Hate to tell you this, before you blindly believe someone know the facts.

Deletion of Posts: On this private message board, I have seen numerous posts from people who were extremely polite and asked for just a status update. Those posts were deleted. On Ravelry people have started topics to have them archived. Feel free to say what you will about me but I do allow everyone to have their own opinion and gladly welcome the opportunity to have someone show me where I could be wrong. I have stated before and will state again, I do not delete comments and do not edit them.
So let’s dialogue and not lay blame on those of us that sent a payment for something we have not received and have not received the COMMUNICATION to let us know the status. All we have asked for until now was to be told the status.
I will also reiterate that I can see where you are and will happily share that if I need to. In other words, to the person that privately emailed me to state “You are nothing but scum and people like you are the cause of the club going downhill. You should be ashamed of your piggy little self. I can only hope that you choke on your next doughnut.” if I receive another email from you I will happily share our private information with the world.

Good for you – keep up the good work. This whole debacle needed to be brought out into the sunlight.
Clicking on the picture doesn’t do anything.. ?
Sorry Tinna. Evidently the plug in isn’t working. I made the image bigger so you can see it now.
It’s so funny how she can bad mouth other people but she doesn’t feel bad for screwing people over. YOU DON’T MESS WITH PEOPLES MONEY! NOT IN THIS ECONOMY! You keep business and pleasure separate. Anyone that runs a business should know this. Is it really that hard to keep your members updated on what’s going on? She had no problem posting things when she needed the money for help. I’m sorry but we all go thru our issues but to act like you do nothing wrong and put the blame on others is just WRONG. I am pretty sure there is other legal action that can be taken against her and sure the government can get involved too somehow. They did with the disclosers, what makes you think they won’t if ppl are being crocks and taking peoples money for their own personal use. You have a contract with people and you are to fulfil it! That is your business!!! I have nothing to do with yarn or the yarn club so I am an outsider looking in. She should be ashamed of herself. Sometimes people need to start pointing their finger at themselves and not the other people. IT WAS YOU THAT TOOK THE MONEY AND IT IS YOU TO RETURN IT TO THE PEOPLE THAT SENT IT TO YOU!!!! I mean how old are we and where did you learn to run a business??? Holly I will take the trip with you to NC to watch this B*tch burn in court cause she deserves everything she gets. If you get enough people I’m sure you could have a class action suit. Keep up the good work and to the haters…KEEP HATING! You will be screwed over next so BEWARE!
Thanks.
I just noticed this from the site:
“In addition to your regular club goodies, there will be a charity highlighted in each of the newsletters that’s looking for donations of handmade goods, and even better — 10% of the purchase price of any club yarn ordered within the two months of the shipment will be donated to charity. You’re not only stitching for a purpose, you’re donating to a worthy cause. Better still, you can order the club colorway in any of the available yarn weights as a club member, and the donation still applies.”
Did anything ever actually get donated to charity, and if not, isn’t that some kind of fraud?
Tinna,
As I was not in charge of her donations I cannot say. I will not say that she did not because I have no proof of that. I always post what I know to be true and can back up.
Im getting angry…..
Here’s the way I think it’s supposed to work. If you sell someone something, you’re supposed to give them what they bought. If you can’t give them what they bought, I think you should give them their money back.
Good on ya’ Frantic.
Here’s another link as proof that Eliza was receiving money to help her “escape”
http://www.plurk.com/p/2187hi
I’m really disheartened that the original UNraffle information (where Eliza states that she’s raising money in order to leave her husband/fund legal assistance for same-said) has been completely erased. I saw it myself, just the other day.
Keep shining the light on her Holly! Elisa is scrambling left & right, on every social media site, deleting “friends” and “followers” that have gotten behind you and the other IY club members.
If only she’d given this much time & energy to fulfilling the club requirements, you guys would be happy customers and not in this predicament.
Quick! Go here (before Eliza deletes it also) and read her own words about the “un”raffle & what it’s for: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/limenviolet/813123/1-25
In case she deletes before you can see it, just know words like “… husband has a girlfriend”, “cleaned out our bank account”, “no money for … a place to stay” and “All money’s [sic] going to getting me the hell out of dodge” were used in the solicitation of this “un”raffle.
I grabbed a screenshot if you need it Holly.
Since you’ve posted your grievances on your blog it would be libel (written)not slander (verbal) and since the truth is an affirmative defense it sounds like you are in the clear! Good on ya for keeping records/evidence against your delete happy adversary.
You are one smart cookie and I say keep up the good work!
I don’t know any of the people or organizations involved but I can’t stand it when people try to shirk their responsibilities. Even if it did not begin as intentionally defrauding people, in the end that is what this sort of thing amounts to. I am speaking in general terms as, again I am not privvy to details other than what I’ve read here. Almost without fail, when attacks become personal it just shows how desperate someone is to deflect attention from FACTS. Just my opinions.
like she hasnt said on plurk people should choke and that people are drug addicts and she shouldnt have left her crack pipe near the last shippment If you ask me what she did was Fraud she took money and ran with it then every once in awhile went her you should maybe have something that you paid for give me a break! she started this and she refuses to own up to it
Oh Holly, I am so sorry that you are going through all of this.
The person that wrote you the letter will have a special place in hell just for them. I would post the letter, Holly. Let it all hang out. You have done nothing wrong.
P.S. Don’t they know how freakin’ hard it is to choke on donut? They just slide right down.
.-= Stacie Haight Connerty´s last blog ..Kidnapped & Robbed at Gunpoint in Nassau, Bahamas – Thank you very much! =-.
I looked at the intentions site to see the original details about the club and the yarn club page is a 404. Did you guys screensnap it or is there another link that I missed?
FYI: I did not offer to hold a “private raffle” on my blog, I simply re-posted the information from Sand and Silk designs, as is noted on the bottom of the post where it says (Originally posted at Sand and Silk Designs)” And to my knowledge, none of those listed on this blog post (except for Lawrence) held a “private raffle” either, but instead chose to give proceeds from their sales to her.
Out of curiosity, does anyone who participated in this little money grab feel they’ve been taken for a ride? I mean, I’d be pretty upset if I thought all of my profits were going to help an abused wife and she ended up going back to her abuser and using my money to buy herself pretty little furniture.
I guess I’m just confused as to why more people aren’t being honest. If these vendors who helped feel screwed over by the whole raffle and “escape fund” why aren’t they speaking out? Are they afraid they’ll hurt poor, delicate MissV’s feelings if they do? Are they afraid of looking foolish? They shouldn’t. They were duped like so many others and as someone who donated to the Boob Rock fund (which, oddly enough, I heard went to base yarn and dye not a biopsy) this makes me feel pretty upset for those who gave money to someone who really didn’t need it when there are women out there who are truly in danger in their marriages.
Those vendors won’t speak out, not because they don’t want to hurt Violet’s “feelings” but because they know she is a spiteful person who will make it her personal vendetta to run their business into the ground. She’s ruined reputations before…
I think Ann is right – they might be afraid to speak out or maybe they can’t believe that someone would take advantage of them like that.
I’d be pissed as hell if I had donated money to the “help Miss Violet escape” fund that turned into the “Buy Miss Violet new furniture and help her finance her move to NC where she can then take advantage of the kindness of another listener who will let her live in her guest house” fund.
Did you see that list of BPAL that she is selling? and she even said that it’s not all of it. That’s a crap-ton of money on bottles of scented oil – that’s not a woman who needs help financing a “boob rock” biopsy or a hospital bill for her appendix, or whatever – that’s a woman who has some serious problems with prioritizing.
Personally, I’m not buying the whole “my husband stole all the yarn club money” excuse. It’s too convenient. She’s flaky and has moved onto her next big project and leaving the IYSSC behind because she just doesn’t care about it any more. Just like she did with the book, the Daily Chum, the Mountain Sole project, the Gaiman project and whatever else she decided to start and then dropped when the next new shiny idea came along.
See, this is what I find so infuriating. There are people in all of our communities who are worthy of our kindness and generosity, but they don’t have blogs/podcasts/spurious yarn-dyeing businesses to lure us in with. How many people with legitimate problems could have been helped by the money that was spent bailing out a person with serious overspending issues?
This is why I don’t give to random people on the internet, no matter how much I admire their writing/want to be their friend/am desperate for them to promote my business or blog on their popular podcast/whatever. It irks me that someone who portrays herself as so into “good intentions” would do something like that.
Here’s my take on her situation. She used that money to move from Iowa to North Carolina. Do I feel like I was “taken for a ride”? No, not at all. She felt her life was hellish in Iowa and had been complaining about it since time immemorial… and then the situation got worse. I’m glad I was able to help her get to a place where she is happy.
Do I feel bad because she stayed with her husband? Firstly, a) really none of my business, and b) not at all because if they’re able to sort their problems out and save their marriage, good for them. I’ve been through a divorce, it sucks. Seriously, if I can contribute to charities knowing that it’s going to make someone feel better and hope that I’m contributing to some annonymous persons happiness, why not her as well? I also don’t know where that money goes to, I only assume that it’s going to go to help someone out, but I also know that directors of charitable causes make more money than God, so really it’s kind of the same thing in the end, isn’t it?
I’m not even going to assume that I know what her money situation is, because I don’t, and frankly nobody else does either. If you gave, you gave, if you didn’t, you didn’t. Am I going to sit here and piss and moan because I gave up a Latte to help a woman out? No. Would I do it again? Yes.
That’s my opinion, for what it’s worth.
.-= Lissette´s last blog ..Shop of the Week: Yarn Coture =-.
Well I suppose there is a difference between helping people in need and helping people who just can’t get their shit together. If she had been anyone else but MissViolet no one would have given a penny, because it would be suspect. If I were to get on Ravelry and go “wahhhh my husband cheated on me and I have no money to leave him!” and everyone saw that just the week before I was bragging about spending $500 on yarn and $1200 on BPAL they would be like, “maybe you should have done better with your money” not, “oh, poor baby. Let’s have raffles and reserve all of our Etsy profits for you.” And then if I spent that money on something else (like a new coat for my husband) wouldn’t people be slightly more than pissed?
My question is: If husband allegedly emptied their account, then they decided to try to make it work with this move, where is that money he took from the account? The emptying only leaves her without funds if he was gone.
I’ve had several drama-free transactions with her and I’m not a member of the yarn club so I’m coming from a more neutral place on all this but there are things that are not adding up, which is upsetting me on behalf of those who are waiting for goods/services or who donated out of the goodness of their hearts.
Her behavior about any questions or comments outside of “We love you!” or “You’re great” is incredibly unprofessional–deleting calm questions about status doesn’t help her case whatsoever. She needs to address the delays and stop being distracted by new “ooh shiny” things and fulfill her financial obligations to those who’ve already paid. If she does not, she deserves every bit of public shredding and complete loss of reputation that occurs.
I have to say…I had trouble listening to the new podcast where she’s talking about all these new projects. My brain kept going to “But what about all the unfinished stuff and the customer roadkill she’s leaving in her wake?”
New bed. New flat screen tv. New couch. Trip to Pennsylvania.
That said, I’ve had several business dealings with her, and everything has always been fine. I was too nervous to join any of the clubs or get the subscriptions. Even though I really wanted in on the IY club. I’m like that in general though.
I looked at the myspace blog and the woman who slept with her husband supposedly stole $500 worth of the bpal scents. I don’t get that at all. How much yarn could a person buy for $500?
I don’t have a dog in this hunt, but have y’all checked out her MySpace page? Specifically the income question? She has it listed as the $100,000-ish (sorry, I forgot that exact number for the low amount)-$250,000 year option. Now, if I made ONE QUARTER MILLION/year off my “empire,” I surely would not need to beg for money!
Also, she’s hinting that she’s pregnant now. Oh, there will be more drama!!
She is a Con Artist. Pure and simple. Maybe some of her groupies will start to see that.
Now let’s see how long it takes her to make her MySpace private. Oh, wait! That wouldn’t allow her to taunt the woman her husband chose to sleep with.
I saw that and was wondering when the “virtual baby shower” would be.
Looks like Miss V’s solution to all of this is to get her followers to buy out all the memberships from all her frustrated customers. This way she doesn’t have to deal with her unhappy customers or take responsibility for her mistakes. At the same time she doesn’t have to take any money out of her pocket for refunds. Instead all her devoted followers are the ones putting out their money. So in the end she’ll still have all the money she took and only have customers that are suck-ups who’ll do just about anything for her. A win-win for Miss Violet!
Has anyone else noticed how much of a control-freak she is. Notice on Ravelry, she’ll only post on groups that *she* moderates. This way if someone responds to her and she doesn’t like what they said, she can simply delete it. The same with her club message board. Speak freely if you want, but if she doesn’t like what you say, she’s right there with the delete button. And look how active she is on Plurk. This way she can bitch and moan and twist the truth and whenever anyone says anything she doesn’t approve of they get deleted and blocked. With her email, she’ll only respond to the ones she deems worthy. Otherwise it probably gets deleted or at the very least ignored (forever). The whole thing is very one sided. And if anyone dare talk about her on a blog or on Ravelry or in a forum she can’t control, she’s quick to threaten legal action and whatever else she can do to make it all go away. And if for some reason she has to address someone outside of her little circle of followers, she’ll use her “spokesperson” Adminnie to do it for her. Anyone who hides like that and goes overboard trying to censor the world around them obviously knows they’ve done wrong. Must be nice to live your own little world of denial where you can avoid the truth and the consequences of your misguided actions, where you can blame others for all of your mistakes and take no responsibility for anything at all.
She also tried to get the new Ravelry group deleted as well.
and she is banning “friends” and “followers” at break-neck speed from every social media venue she’s on. Any person with an inquiry or hint of non-obsequence gets the ax.
I’ve said it before, in different places: Thank you Holly for taking this whole problem to the next level. It had to be removed from any venue Eliza controls because her only M.O. is to quash, ignore and taunt those holding her accountable, while swimming in the “Sea of Me” with her Plurkette cheerleaders.
If you have a follow-up post to this entire debaucle, you know there will be many a reader!
North Carolina here – just letting you know that I’m cheering you on every step of the way. This whole situation is ridiculous. Her behavior in reaction to any question that is even slightly referencing a project of hers that she is not fulfilling her promises on is juvenile. She could have prevented all this backlash by simply addressing these questions head on.
She’s an idea machine with absolutely no follow through. She needs to stop and concentrate on the projects where people have actually invested money. Otherwise, she’s just committing fraud.
I was just reading Eliza’s myspace blog where she runs down the whole affair her husband had. She goes into a lot of detail and I have to say that it didn’t ever seem there was a time where she thought she was going to leave her husband and “escape to NC”. She talks about marriage counseling and telling the homewrecker that she wasn’t giving up her husband, etc… No talk of divorce. Makes me wonder, when she set up this whole raffle did she ever have any intent on leaving him? Or was that just an excuse to get more money for the TWO of them to run off together.
In other places she specifically said she needed money to move herself and money to get a lawyer. Maybe nothing specific about divorcing but lots of uncertainty about what would happen next.
Contact the Better Business Bureau. I’m not sure if she’s a part of it, but enough complains will ensure she never will be.
.-= BerlinBetty´s last blog ..Take Me As I Am =-.
I agree thats what I when the whole she needs to “escape” went down she also made hint to what im not sure but i have an idea saying he didnt use protection and he was getting tested yet she never said she was but then I remember how she would always mention ups guys her friends were introducing her too and men on planes she said she was flirting with it makes me wonder if the affair thing if it was real which I doubt wasnt 2 sided I mean if you listen to the way she talks on some of the podcasts about these guys it makes you wonder but I agree she just wanted the money to move
and what else I think is wrong is how she dumped her dog when she made her “big ” move so much for being an animal lover
The not getting tested is really scary if she is pregnant. I hope one or the other (or both) is not true.
I have been unemployed since May 2008. Maybe I should just ask for money from everyone on the Internet.
I posted on your other entry and I’ll post again here. Anyone who has been ripped off by miss violet can file a report here:
http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
The FBI will forward the information to her local police and my guess is that at the amount stated, she will be charged. Also file with the US Postal Inspector as this also qualifies as mail fraud.
For those of you that donated to the raffle(s). That money must be reported as income to the IRS as well as her local state. She doesn’t just get to take donations and not pay taxes. Have any of you tried to report her to the IRS? I know this seems extreme, but what she has done to you all is also extreme and it sounds to me like she has no intention of addressing the issues, sending you your products or producing refunds. She should not be able to skirt paying taxes on this stuff.
Also, it is against Paypal’s TOS to accept money for raffles. Have any of you contacted Paypal?
Well, doesn’t look like she’s hurting for money too badly right now. She just plurked that she’s looking for yarn porn. I guess she’s done with the flatscreen TV and furniture and is now spending the money on yarn.
Oh and thought you might want to know that a Lime and Violet app is coming soon too. And who said iPhones couldn’t get viruses????
A Lime and Violet app? What the hell will it do? Think up new ways of ripping you off?
Actually, I think she’s requesting “yarn porn” because she’s *allegedly* recording another podcast today (of course, if she tells you it’s raining, you’d be wise to go outside and check, lol).
So basically, she’s asking her minions to do the legwork on pretty much the only thing left worth listening to on her “knitting” podcast.
It’s a busy life, dodging unhappy customers, running around deleting posts, unfriending people, banning followers, putting out image fires and buying appliances & furniture with the listeners money. She’s much too busy to bother getting yarn porn gathered herself!
Also noticed that she’s looking for an emergency sock knitter. Perhaps this “emergency” will provide an excuse for the (still missing) infamous packet.
And, TG, I love your comment about the app. So funny (and probably true!). I wouldn’t be shocked if it has a direct link to paypal and various banks to make it even easier to send “donations”. Of course the app will probably cost around $10 with all of the proceeds going to “charity”. (AKA greedy woman’s yarn fund)
OKay I just listened to about 30 seconds of a podcast, to see what all the hubub was about. 2 things: 1) the shrieking and giggling is really annoying and 2) what the heck is it? The violetnviolet show? I want to hear from Lime. I want to hear from her about all of this.
i donated to the “flight fund” because i felt horrible that she was in such an awful position– and i DO now feel like i was taken advantage of. i’m glad that she was able to work things out with her husband, but i think i would’ve felt better if she had somehow let us know that the money had been donated to another worthy cause, etc. you just hope that when you make an effort to help someone out, they’re not just pocketing the money and moving on. i won’t be listening to the podcast anymore, and have left their group on ravelry. it does feel like an act of deceit.
I agree. It’s like giving money to charity and being told that it’s going to help victims of a tsunami in another country and then finding out afterwards that instead the money was used to built a dog park in Central Park instead. It’s just not right to take money under a certain pretense and then to decide afterwards to use the money for something else. At the very LEAST she should have contacted the people that donated to her and explained that she was able to patch things up with her husband and that the money would be used for something else. The classy thing would have been to at least offer to return the money to anyone that wanted it back.
As noted by ajdury, she was bragging about buying 2 sweaters worth of yarn about a week after asking for donations. Berroco Vintage Wool runs about $6/ball at WEBS, so that’s about $100 – $120 worth of yarn for 2 sweaters.
It’s that kind of crap that made me ticked after the “boob rock” incident.
The other thing that got me is what happened to the money that was “drained” out of her accounts. If SSH took it, then did he spend it all, or was it somewhere else and is now back in her possession? We got to hear every other minute detail of that saga, but what happened to the money.
I wonder if Apple has started filming ads for when the new L&V app comes out:

Is there any news, like has anyone gotten a refund, or reported her to the FBI or BBB? I’ve been considering buying a membership off someone, or even buying some skeins and joining the group at ravelry. It really is a wonderful idea.
The latest news is the SEPTEMBER packet was posted a few days ago (contains the patterns and other stuff) and everyone is waiting with their fingers crossed that the December shipment comes sometime before Easter.
It’s really sad that it took all of this just to get the September packet. I wonder what would have happened if the members hadn’t started applying pressure.
Miss V just announced on Plurk that she is putting together an alternative art magazine. She said she used to publish one many, many years ago and still owes some subscribers some issues (surprise, surprise!). She’s talking about having it available for purchase and download. And is also concerned about the criticism she’ll get from her “haters”. LOL
Does this woman EVER finish a project she starts? And has she ever been checked for ADD? I can’t even begin to try to count how many “projects” she has attempted to start this year!
It’s ridiculous! She’s got customers that have been waiting about 10 years now for something they paid for? What in the hell is this girl thinking? She needs to stop involving herself in any private business transactions. She can’t be trusted with anyones money.
OMG I can’t believe someone left you a comment saying that! Shame on them. I’m visiting from MomDot after reading Trisha’s post. I’m sorry your going through all this trouble but I’m glad that your being proactive about it. I wish the best of luck. xo

Oh Dear Lord!
She’s involved in *another* yarn club!
http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/limenviolet/912067/
Why, oh, why would this yarn club want anything to do with Eliza? I’m guessing they had this set up before all her secrets came out. Otherwise this other yarn club is taking a huge risk associated themselves with Eliza.
Oh my. That is rich.
I have had two dealings with her. The first one was the now defunct art scouts. I had bought two of the booklets (thank god they were digitally sent) and then the buttons after i had finished said booklet the buttons NEVER came. I sent e-mails that were never returned. ALSO in this time I had a very sudden and frustrating move to cheer myself up I bought a skein of lime and violet yarn. I had forgotten to change my address in pay pal and she sent it to my old apartment (where the landlord re-turned it to her) I contacted her and was like Sorry I am full of DUH… and admminne sent me back a very short and rude e-mail about how they should charge me shipping and next time they would charge me shipping. I figured for all the DUH moments she talks about on her podcast she would have at least been nice about someone else. When the yarn got here. It reeked of dog. I grew up in a house with dogs and my mother beads she went threw painstaking measures to makes sure the beading supplies and the dogs never mixed…
oh well after this i stop listening to the podcast and have left the ravelry group. Someone needs to keep a running track of all the projects she has started and then abandoned.

are there any updates re: complaints filed with the better business bureau, etc.? it just seems so sad that there’s no other way to get the word out NOT to get involved in business with this woman or to at least inform people of what the risk is… you’d hate to think that someone can continue to get away with ripping people off just because there’s no way to inform people of their actions…
stalker, much?
I feel so sorry for you. One day when the fog has been lifted and you realize that you’re defending the actions of someone with some extremely questionable ethics, you’ll only have yourself to blame. It’s so sad to see a friendship become exploited. If you truly care for Eliza then you wouldn’t always be her shield or “puppet”. You would make her stand up and take responsibility for her actions instead of hiding and making you her little spokesperson all the time. She needs to be an adult about this and take some responsibility. You’re only enabling her poor choices. And if she truly cared for you she would never allow you to put yourself in that position. You have enough to deal with in your life already that a true friend wouldn’t want to bring more drama into your life. Friends never push their friends into a middle of a warzone. It’s selfish. It’s a very sad thing to watch.
Say what you want, Minz, but you can’t deny that she has treated people poorly. There’s no excuse to not communicate with paid up customers for months at a time. No excuses for not responding to emails, deleting pages of posts, and not answering questions. None whatsoever. Sure, things have gotten ugly, but Eliza is not blameless in all of this and you continually defending her as if she is only makes you look foolish and naive.
Maybe Minnie is just as much a part of it all, so is just as guilty, but for some reason or another is better with confrontation. She might not be being used or treated poorly, because she’s tied up in the mess backwards and forwards. No fog needs to be lifted because there isn’t any fog. They’ve been close enough for long enough that she knows exactly what she’s getting into. You know, maybe not everyone gets treated the same. We don’t know what it’s like there in the inner circle, and maybe M isn’t being used, but she’s just another user.
The whole thing makes me so sad.
That’s extremely sad if that is true. So pathetic to see grown middle aged women acting so irresponsible and childish. I taught 1st graders for five years and most of them were much more responsible, respectful and more mature than these two women. Sad, indeed!
Pathetic is more like it.
Minz has let herself be Eliza’s whipping boy for a long time. She walks all over her and it’s Minz’s fault because she lets her.
There is no excuse for how Eliza treated her customers and shame on you for defending her actions and actively participating in the trashing of people who only wanted what they had paid for. You are no better than she is.
Absolutely despicable.
Could be that minnie is Ellie?
I wouldn’t put it past Eliza to hide behind the “minnie” name to post. She’s been using her as her buffer for years, so why not make it official.
Groupie much?
That’s basically what you are Minz – the head Violet groupie fangurl who will excuse anything her idol does in order to feel special because you get to be friends with the “star”.
one other thing. i also know where you are, but you don’t see me proclaiming it from the rooftops
I think you just did.
Wow, so now you would use confidential customer information?
Nice.
I live in Hollywood, Calfiornia. Come and get me minnie… What ya gonna do? sign me up my e-mail for spam? send embarrassing packets of information about STD to my house? Because I wouldn’t put that past you or your ringleader.
Off to write a review on itunes… the one place Eliza CAN’T sensor.

Anyone notice that any post or thread on the Lime and Violet Ravelry board that mentions Carin’s Round The Twist podcast is immediately archived by Miss V. You can see the archived thread list here http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/limenviolet/topics?archived=1
And, in last week’s podcast Carin mentioned all the podcasts she regularly listens to. She mentioned quite a few of them, but made no mention of Lime and Violet. You can see her list posted here http://roundthetwistwithcarin.blogspot.com/
Things that make you go hmmm…
Well, Carin did just say that she had gotten some drama out of her life…
Interesting. Carin seems to kind and drama-free. I’m sure she must be speaking of Eliza. Apparently she wasn’t drinking the same kool-aid that Minnie has overdosed on.
Hold onto your hats! Now Eliza is apparently getting involved with the people at “500 Pencils”. She’ll be incorporating her scents into their pencil club. I wonder if these people at this company have ANY idea about the kind of person they’re dealing with. When (not if) things go sour this could adversely affect their reputation.
I noticed that as well – maybe someone needs to enlighten them about what kind of person they would be dealing with and her history of not ever following through on anything.
It’s just another case of “ooh..shiny…” and completely forgetting everything else. She has time to knit two socks for this new endeavor, but the Gaiman project still isn’t finished and she’s pretty much abandoned Mountain Sole.
Tick Tock Eliza – December’s almost over!
