Did you listen to the interview? I find it interesting (well actually not interesting, it makes me more mad than anything) that she mentions she had this podcast for 43,000 listeners on this amazing podcast she created, but fails to mention all the people she angered when the podcast shut down, when she failed to send out shipments of yarn, when she scammed the money to move... ect. It's a shame more people are going to get sucked in potentially...

Sadly there is no law against this...

I think she might actually be bipolar or borderline personality disorder. Or both. I don't say this to be snarky, but from observing the pattern of behavior: the mania when she has a new business venture and then the speed with which she grows bored and can't follow through, the intensity of her relationships and the way they always dramatically fall apart, the way she takes on a new internet identities and even changes her name from Amy to Beth to Elizabeth to Eliza to Ellie, and her inability to take responsibility or criticism... it all seems pathological (in the clinical sense, not in the prejorative sense). I don't know what this adds to the conversation, other than I find myself feeling sorry for her. I've made back the money I "lost" to her, but she'll almost certainly never be happy :-P

I am arriving very late to all of this, but still am truly stunned by all of this controversy and have tons of questions. Can anyone update on what's going on now? Did the yarn club members ever receive their back shipments? Also, since I can;t access any of the old Lime & Violet podcasts, why was she so popular? What was so great about her podcast that made her a minor celebrity? What was it about her that made people give to her again and again? And why didn't Lime stand up and make things right for the yarn club members? Why has no one said one word about Lime here, wasn't she Violet's partner in all this or was that just for the podcast?

Some people mentioned that they have all of her podcasts downloaded. Is there any way to email these files to someone else? WIth all of this craziness I really want to listen to her and find out what was so special about her style or whatever.

Thanks Frantic for putting this out there and keeping it up...

Groaaaan!! This is more information than I actually knew, Liz - but I am not surprised one bit about the complexity of it all (and the obviously repeated patterns of behaviour). The scope to make a fast buck on Ravelry could have been huge (another thing I noticed over there was that unlike other 'indie dyers', she never paid for any advertising - just stuck to constant free self promotion). This was backed up by her 'rah-rah girls' (a phrase of hers that I actually hate and which she uses to demean folk who stick up for the people she is flaming - unjustifiably).

The myriad health issues are another one that really gets to me. The whole boob rock thing smelled like horse-s##t fom the start. And during all this, we then had the appendix. What really made me smile here was that she claimed she could not afford the medical bill, so started pan-handling (again), but when she gave up smoking at the same time for all of about oooh, 5 minutes, she blew the money she had saved on not smoking on a mega-shipment of yarn from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. The sheer gall of it!! There are a lot of people on Ravelry who have complex health problems and Ravelry is their lifeline (making friends and enjoying a craft they love - in some cases, taking away some of the isolation that illness brings). For her to keep using this old cherry is truly sick - and this is where Elizabeth DOES have a health problem. She needs psychiatric help - because if she carries on the way she is, she is going to come across the wrong side of the law and then she may be forced to accept the help when esentially it will be too late (certainly to protect the people she scams and lies to, anyway)......

Wow!! What a blast from the past. I google Elizabeth Liz Ellie Badurina Metz Miss Violet every now and again to see what scam she has pulled. This woman is a professional at having people send her money without her working.

I first found her when she was living in Oregon with a husband. She wrote on the internet that she had that disease where she was afraid to leave the house so she couldn't work. The disease would seem to go away if they got a bit of cash. She could go out and spend then without the disease. They were always broke. He did leave her for another woman that he met through Elizabeth's journal. The way he did it was mean. He told her he was going to visit his parents for a couple of days and then when he got there, told her he wasn't coming back.

She then moved to San Diego to live with a guy she met from the internet. Never got a job there. San Diego guy pressured her to contribute to the household. She met another guy on internet while living with San Diego guy and moved to Seattle. Never got a job there either. He got fed up and she planned a bike ride on the west coast. All this time, she got money from people on the internet. Boob Rocks, Appendix, sick and injured dogs, husband took my yarn money. Oh, it's all so familiar.

I've noticed that all the men she has been involved with are usually a few years younger than her. I've always wondered if she picks them because they are easy to manipulate. Another pattern that I've noticed is that all the guys suddenly start having issues with their families. It always seems like she wants to get the guys away from their families, usually in a move across the country. Oregon husband was from the east coast. Her current husband is from Iowa I think. Now they are living in North Carolina.

All along, from journal to blog, she is always saying that people are so mean for wanting to receive what they have paid her for. I remember people asking about late Zines and Zines never arriving. She would get so nasty about her subscribers.

I sent her $25 for an art collage pack before I realized. It was never sent and never heard anything from my inquiries. That's when I started Googling. It's amazing that she's been so successful at it.

If you go to that link, "a consumer" left a message on August 26th, 2010 saying that the complaint was a total fabrication. It goes on to state that all 1000 members received all 6 six shipments, only one shipment was late, and the last was was actually sent out 3 months early.

I've known Eliza Metz/Elizabeth Badurina a long time. She's very charismatic and charming, but a total flake. She swings wildly between totally-strapped-for-cash-and-in-an-emergency and I've-got-an-embarrassing-amount-of-possessions-better-declutter. Hm. She's ALWAYS got a health emergency, but if you've ever followed her blog, she doesn't take care of herself - so to some extent, she brings that shit on herself as well. She jumps into relationships with the same blind zeal she begins a new business venture, then is inevitably in a crisis and needs to move out, get a divorce, file a restraining order, whatever. She used to have a zine, and she crapped out on that. Then she had "Art Scouts," which she abandoned. Then the yarn thing, then soap, then scents, and now as "Peony Blue" she either has or had a digital scrapbooking business. I have never known anyone more oblivious to the pattern of dysfunction in her life. She does the same thing OVER and OVER again! I once donated to her cross-country bike ride fund, so she could get over her heartbreak over a break-up. She blew her knee out and that trip lasted one day. I donated money when he computer died and she needed one to get her business going so she could leave her asshole fiance. Again, for her breast cancer scare. It was about then that I realized as charming as she is, she's a fucking hot mess. It makes me absolutely mental how she has a cadre of "yes men" defending her crazy behavior time and time again. I wish *I* had people so religiously loyal to me kissing my arse :-(

Was wondering what happened to Lime & Violet. I too knew of Eliza from her Scrawls/Atropine days, but never got sucked into the Lime & Violet yarn-mania because of all the other drama she herself seemed to get sucked into. Such a talented woman, but yipes, lots o' drama. Seems when things get sticky, she disappears, leaving people in the lurch and then reinvents herself again and again.
