While blog hopping for UBP#09 I found Write from Karen She’s wonderfully witty. So I wanted to join in her Monday Meme:

March 23rd Questions:
1. If a new medicine were developed that would cure cancer but caused a fatal reaction in one percent of those who took it, would you want it to be released to the public? Why or why not? Do you think we’re close to curing cancer? Have you ever lost someone to cancer? If so, please write a short tribute to that person.
I’d want more research done to make sure we couldn’t figure out what in the 1% was causing the death. I personally don’t think we’re anywhere near close to a cure to cancer. I wish that we were. Cancer has touched our life pretty significantly. My paternal grandmother had breast cancer, was treated with a mastectomy and chemotherapy. Luckily she is still kicking. My maternal grandmother had cancer of an unknown origin. Why unknown? By the time she was diagnosed (there was a slight delay and a huge mixup in this) the cancer was metastatized throughout. She received a few rounds of chemotherapy but passed away within 2 months of diagnosis. She was a wonderful woman. She had a mean streak and could hold a grudge but she also had a heart of gold. Her and my grandfather were foster parents to over 40 children, adopted a total of 4 (3 after I was born) and most of the children she fostered and the three she adopted later in life all had serious medical issues. She was the foster mother to the first child in the state of Maryland to ever be diagnosed with AIDS. My mother also had kidney cancer. She had a kidney removed and has remained healthy for the past 4 years. Then most recently (see my threes post) we had a dear friend pass from cancer as well.
2. You discover your wonderful one-year-old child is, because of a mix-up at the hospital, not yours. Would you want to exchange the child to try to correct the mistake? Why or why not?
This is hard. Because by 1 you’ve become so attached to your child. I would at least want to know all about the other family. If by some chance my child was in a bad situation he would definitely be coming home to us and we’d be fighting for custody of the child we had.
3. Do you think that the world will be a better or a worse place 100 years from now? Explain your answer, please.
I can only hope that it will be better. I pray that the evil doers in the world will cease to remain and good will be all that is left.
4. How many pictures do you have on your living room walls? And what are they? (paintings, photographs, sketches, abstract, family, etc). Feel like taking us on a tour of your home? If so, post your video or photos!
A total of 4. Two of BG by herself, one of both kids and one of Charlie by hisself. We’re planning on another pic of Charlie by hisself in the near future.
